The following images are from actual patients treated by Dr. Elisabeth Potter who have undergone DIEP flap reconstruction surgery.
This is a 27 year old female with genetic susceptibility to breast cancer who opted to undergo bilateral prophylactic nipple sparing mastectomies. She had immediate DIEP flap breast reconstruction at the time of mastectomies and later had one revision surgery.
This is a 50 year old female with history of genetic susceptibility to breast cancer who had previously undergone breast reduction and subsequent breast augmentation. Due to her genetic susceptibility to breast cancer, she opted for bilateral nipple sparing mastectomies and had immediate DIEP flap breast reconstruction at the time of mastectomies. One year later, she had one revision surgery which included fat grafting from flanks to breasts.
Diagnosed with left breast cancer, this 46 year old patient opted for a lumpectomy followed by radiation therapy. After the discovery of an ATM gene mutation, she underwent a prophylactic skin sparing mastectomy and immediate DIEP flap breast reconstruction. She finished with one small revision surgery.
Diagnosed with left breast cancer, this 36 year old patient chose to have a bilateral mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. She followed with one revision surgery, an implant placement under her DIEP flap, for breast augmentation.
Diagnosed with left breast cancer, this patient, age 55, initially opted for a left breast lumpectomy. When pathology demonstrated positive margins for residual cancer, she underwent a bilateral mastectomy with tissue expander placement after chemotherapy. She completed her cancer treatment with left breast radiation therapy and began DIEP flap breast reconstruction. After two minor revision surgeries with fat grafting, she finished reconstruction with 3D nipple tattoos.
This patient, 40 years old, was diagnosed with a genetic susceptibility to breast cancer. She underwent a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction and followed up with one revision surgery.
This patient, a 45 year-old female with a history of right breast cancer and the CHEK2 gene mutation, underwent a bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with DIEP flaps and implant placement. She followed with one revision surgery.
Diagnosed with left breast cancer, this patient, age 66, underwent a lumpectomy with positive margins. Her next step was a bilateral mastectomy, with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction, after genetic testing revealed a gene mutation making her a higher risk for breast cancer. She followed up with two fat grafting sessions and completed her reconstruction with 3D nipple tattoos.
After testing positive for a genetic susceptibility to breast cancer, this patient, age 35, underwent a bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy followed by immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. Later, she added bilateral implants under her breast flaps for augmentation purposes.
This patient, age 52, was diagnosed with a breast cancer genetic susceptibility. She opted for a prophylactic nipple sparing bilateral mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction.
This patient, age 49, diagnosed with the BRCA 1 gene mutation, underwent a bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy and immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. She opted for one revision surgery.
Diagnosed with right breast cancer in 2018, this 40 year-old female patient underwent a right skin-sparing mastectomy with axillary dissection and tissue expander placement before radiation. She followed with tissue expander removal and a right stacked DIEP flap reconstruction. In the near future, she plans to have a left breast lift for symmetry.
This 55 year-old female patient, with a history of left breast cancer, underwent bilateral nipple-sparing mastectomies and tissue expander placement in 2018. After following with bilateral tissue expander removal and DIEP flap breast reconstruction two months later, she opted for one breast revision surgery with fat grafting.
